Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP) helps clients pursue everyday activities, while also addressing their substance addiction, associated learned behaviors and psychological contributing factors. IOP treatment and other outpatient treatments consist of weekly counseling, therapy, relapse prevention, or other sessions.
IOP is tailored to the unique needs of each client. While outpatient addiction treatment involves a single therapy session per week, IOP offers continued support and structure for the client, with multiple therapy sessions conducted throughout the week, in group, individual, and even family group formats. Different therapy modalities are used help you learn to cope with substance abuse and the associated mental health conditions.
Traditional IOP services require clients to attend daily meetings and therapy sessions, aimed at treating the underlying causes of addiction and substance abuse.
Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) are treatment programs used to address addictions, depression, or other dependencies that do not require detoxification or round-the-clock supervision. They enable patients to
continue with their normal, day-to-day lives in a way that residential treatment programs do not. Whereas residential treatment requires that clients reside on site, clients in intensive outpatient programs live at home.
Ideal candidates for intensive outpatient treatment have a safe home environment. This means encouraging family members and friends who are ready to support their loved one in their recovery efforts. If a person lives with other people who use drugs or drink, residential treatment is generally recommended to get the person away from these triggers for relapse.
IOP treatment is the most widely used addiction therapy method in use today for good reason – it works if you work it. IOP requires a full-time commitment, and a full spectrum of requirements, set up by your therapist, to help you rebuild a healthy life, free from addiction to substances.
The Weekend IOP track is the best option for those who are required/want to complete a substance abuse treatment program, while living at home and supporting family or dependents full-time.
