What is a Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment (SACOT)?

A Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment (SACOT), also widely known as a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), requires a large time commitment, and is significantly more intense than IOP treatment.

Clients will typically attend therapy sessions 5 days a week, ranging from 4-8 hours per day, depending on the needs of the client. In many ways, entering a SACOT program is like making sobriety and mental health your full-time job and your personal life.

Is Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment (SACOT) Right for Me?

Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment (SACOT) provides help transitioning out of inpatient or residential treatment, and daily guidance building safer routines and lifestyles. The National Association of Private Psychiatric Hospitals (NAPPH) and the American Association for Partial Hospitalization (AAPH) define SACOT/PHPs as outpatient programs,

“…specifically designed for the diagnosis or active treatment of a serious mental, and/or substance abuse disorder, when there is a reasonable expectation for improvement or when it is necessary to maintain a patient’s functional level and prevent relapse or full hospitalization.
